ME Doll (Mitochondrial Eve) | Educational Heirloom Doll & Cultural Artifact
“I wanted something I hadn’t seen in the toy
market-something educational and enchanting.
I hope you’ll like it.” - Mama Doll
First Edition | Signed | Numbered | Authenticated | Educational Heirloom
Only 500 exist in our first-run edition.
The Black Doll Affair presents the debut of its first-ever collector’s doll handmade by Mama Doll, founder of The Black Doll Affair. This educational heirloom is a collectible that captures the significance and evolution of humanity. IF you’re an educator, email us for a complimentary doll.
Every doll is:
Handmade—not manufactured
Signed and numbered by Mama Doll
Certified First Edition
Accompanied by its official Certificate of Authenticity
Presented in archival collector packaging
The first edition will never be repeated.
The ME doll features a symbolic veil, referencing ancestral folklore that associates veiled birth with spiritual gifting. Owners of ME are invited to unveil, paint and personalize the doll’s face as a creative arts activity, reinforcing self-expression and identity.
Limited Edition Educational Heirloom
Each ME Doll is part of a first-run limited edition of 500, individually numbered and personally signed by Mama Doll. Every piece is designed, handmade, and painted in a rich dark chocolate finish, affirming Blackness as origin, beauty, and light.
The keepsake presentation includes:
A black star base connected to a “B” (for Black) plaque.
A heart-shaped mirror inviting love of self, self-reflection, and self-recognition.
A velvet pouch containing symbolic artifacts, including black sea salt to remind the owner that a Black woman is the “salt” of the earth; a black heart-shaped obsidian rock carved from volcanic ash to show love for the Black woman and reverence for her magical mystery (how so many diverse races could evolve from one source in such a relatively short period of time); and a braided bracelet with an African charm to remind the collector of its origin and hand in humanity.
Packaging adorned with The Black Doll Affair® insignia and symbolic elements like the hand of Hamsa, which stops negative energy and symbolizes a watchful and protective mother over the family.
A subtle gardenia scent accompanies the keepsake, offering a sensory nod to our beginnings and the sacred atoms (Adam) of Eve and the first garden.
A COLLECTIBLE WITH CULTURAL WEIGHT
This doll marks a moment in time for the movement that redefined representation and self-esteem for girls. Created in the original spirit of The Black Doll Affair, she serves as a living archive—documenting legacy, history, identity, and the empowerment of Black women and girls.
Her artistic purpose is educational:
To preserve the cultural importance of Black Dolls
To elevate self-esteem through representation
And to act as a heirloom for future generations.
First-run ((first batch of an item)) collectibles historically hold the greatest value.
Once these 500 are gone, the mold and edition retire forever.
HANDMADE NOT MANUFACTURED FOR HUE™
Where commercial dolls are mass-produced, this doll is an artisan piece: detailed, perfected, and finished by hand. No two dolls are identical. Each one is infused with intention and the signature authenticity of Mama Doll.
She is a luxury keepsake designed to be displayed, protected, gifted, and passed down—yet still connected to the joy of play.
AN EDUCATIONAL HEIRLOOM
This is more than a collector’s item. It is a teaching tool, a legacy, and a preservation of Black History and belonging. An heirloom made to last beyond this moment.
A future artifact, created for now.
FIRST EDITION FOUNDER’S PRICE: $50
This inaugural price honors our members, collectors and supporters. Future editions and collaborations will increase in value and price. When you own the first run, you own the beginning of the legacy.
